Robert
J. RutherfordRob Rutherford became a Chicago Police Officer in 1980 (Class 80-2A) after working six years for the Chicago Board of Education. After the academy, Rob was assigned to the 23rd District. In 1982, Rob was transferred to the 25th District and then to Gang Crimes North. Rob worked there until February of 1992 when he was promoted to Detective and assigned to the old Area 3 until its closing. Rob was then transferred to Area 5 where he works today.
Rob has served as a FOP watch Rep in Gang Crimes North and the Unit Rep in Area 5. Rob is also a member of the Emerald Society and The Detectives Association.
Rob is a graduate of St. Angela Grade School (’68) and St. Patrick High School (’72). He also attended The University of Illinois for two years.
Rob lives on the northwest side in the Portage Park neighborhood with his wife Rose and four children.
Rob was elected as a Trustee in March of 2002.
