ACTIVE AND RETIRED FLU SHOTS  11/02/09

The Lodge will be distributing free flu shots on Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 0800 to 1700 hrs. This does not include the H1N1 vaccine. Adult dependents can receive the vaccine for a cost of $12.00 payable by cash or check.

Members and covered family members who participate in the BC/BS PPO Plan can call their personal physician to obtain the H1N1 vaccine as it becomes available. Members should remind their physician to code procedure as a well-care visit to ensure that the member will not incur any expense.

Members and covered family members who participate in an HMO Plan can call their personal physician to obtain the H1N1 vaccine as it becomes available. A normal co-pay will apply. The same applies for covered family members.

UNICARE HMO NEWS ALERT  10/29/09

The Benefits Management Office notified that Lodge that Unicare will be leaving the health insurance market in Illinios. Any member who has enrolled in the Unicare HMO, may, but is not required to, select the Blue Cross PPO Plan or Blue Advantage HMO before the close of Open Enrollment on October 30, 2009. Members who are satisfied with the Unicare HMO plan should not elect to make any changes.

After October 30, 2009, members enrolled in the Unicare HMO will be offered a choice of the Blue Cross PPO Plan, the Blue Advantage HMO, or an HMO plan that is comparable to the current Unicare HMO plan.

RICHARD LIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS  10/24/09

Twenty lucky winners were chosen to receive $1000 college scholarships at a random drawing held during the General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, October 20, 2009. 2010 Richard Lis Memorial Scholarship Winners List.

Minnesota Metro Lodge #3, along with the Minnesota Police Officers Ski Association (MPOSA), would like to invite the Chicago area FOP to a reunion and tradition in the ski bluffs at Big Powderhorn Mountain in Upper Michigan, February 1st-4th, 2010.

OFFICER IN NEED  10/20/09

On September 29, 2009, Officer Patrick Colleran of the Winnetka Police Department suffered a tragic loss with the unexpected passing of his beloved wife Aileen. Patrick has been a dedicated member of the Police Department for over twenty years. He has been an active supporter and executive officer of several fraternal and charitable organizations. He is presently Secretary of the Winnetka Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 76. Aileen was a pillar of support that afforded Patrick the opportunity to pursue his passion of being a Police Officer and serve the community. Aileen was a registered nurse and shared Patrick’s passion for helping others. Patrick and Aileen are the proud parents of three beautiful daughters aged 10, 12 and 15. Donations for the children may be made to the Aileen Colleran Scholarship Fund, c/o New Trier F.C.U., 642 Green Bay Rd., Kenilworth, IL 60043.

MEMORIAL DEFACEMENT UPDATE  10/20/09

The Memorial Defacement Case is scheduled to be heard in Room 301 at 26th & California on November 4, 2009 at 0900 hrs. All members are encouraged to attend.
