Several retired officers have
contacted the Lodge about an issue
with the new administrator, MetLife.
Retirees have phoned the number that
was listed in the August FOP
newsletter and have received a voice
message asking them to leave a name
and number and that a representative
will call them back.
Retirees should comply. A
representative will call back in two
to three hours. This delay has been
attributed to an internal problem
that will be corrected in the next
week or so. Retirees should not call
any number other than 312-466-0883
as outlined in the August
newsletter.
The Healthcare Enhancement for Local
Public Safety (HELPS) Retirees Act
The FOP scored a major
legislative victory last night when
the Senate passed H.R. 4, the
"Pension Protection Act of 2006," by
a 93-5 vote. This came after
the House approved the bill 279-130
last week. The bill eliminates
the Deferred Retirement Option Plans
