We have been confronting the City on a daily basis about adding protections for our members. This includes not only safety equipment and supplies, but also establishing exclusive testing facilities that will meet the needs of First Responders, Retired First Responders, and their family members.
We will keep you updated.
Improper Work Assignments
The Lodge has been notified by some of our members that they are being assigned to tasks that are not law enforcement related. If you are given an assignment that you do not believe is law enforcement related, you should request a supervisor and have the supervisor clarify your assignment. Even if you still believe the assignment is not law enforcement related, you should complete the assignment.
Please note the date, time, location, the name of the supervisor you spoke with, and the name(s) of any witness(es). Notify the Lodge. A Field Rep will advise you on how to proceed.
Incident Response Teams
Several members have been involuntarily selected to be assigned to Incident Response Teams. The members of these teams will respond to incidents where it has been verified that one or more persons has been infected with the COVID-19 virus.
I encourage all members to familiarize themselves with CDC and CDPH guidelines to determine whether you, any person living in your household, or any person who is dependent on you as a primary caretaker are considered as at-risk persons.
Members who believe they should be excluded from assignment because they, a household member, or a dependent are considered an at-risk person should submit a To-From-Subject report to their Commanding Officer outlining the reason(s) for the request. This report should be submitted in person and also via email.
Please contact the Lodge if your request is denied or ignored.
